RSS and feeders

This was pretty interesting. I know I'll be using this to help with new teaching ideas for first grade. Since I have a student teacher, I'll be showing her how to put some good "feeders" on her computer, so that she'll know where to get some good ideas and strategies. Our library can use these to update patrons on new programs and events that the library is sponsoring. Our staff could use it to keep us informed about what is happening at the library. This is all very exciting. I know I'll have to continue to practice using this idea so that it will become easier to subscribe to different feeds.

Starting Blogging

It was easier than I thought to create a blog. Of course, that's because Amy L. was walking me through it. I've always wanted to know how to do this. I've been able to read other peoples' blogs, but never was able to figure out how to start one of my own. This program will be very helpful to me in the future when I want to have a blog to share teacher information. I use the Staffchatter blog from home daily to see what's going on at the library. Since I don't work very many hours, this is my way of keeping informed of what's going on. It helps me to stay in touch and to call if I need additional info. Libraries can use blogs to help people become aware of new books and materials available. It would be great for those who do storytimes to share things on blogs. Sarah H. has a great blog about storytimes that she had done and reading it gave me some terrific ideas. The pictures were most helpful, also.
